Blockchain Network Sui Attracts Over 40 Gaming Projects to its Platform

Sui, a new layer-1 blockchain network, has managed to attract over 40 gaming projects after launching its mainnet recently. The protocol has managed to attract game developers due to its unique technical specifications and a different approach to on-chain assets. The platform emphasizes gameplay before any crypto elements, which is an approach shared by other firms including Magic Eden, Ava Labs, Solana Foundation, and Gala Games in recent months. Sui is an “object-based” chain, well-optimized for games with hundreds, if not thousands, of in-game objects created in game engines such as Unreal Engine 5 or Unity.

According to Sui’s team, the platform allows game developers to easily and seamlessly evolve in-game asset NFTs over time, allowing on-chain assets to change dynamically in real-time as players level up items such as swords. Developers can automatically add metadata on items for players to “write” their own histories with each item as they play. Unlike other blockchain networks, Sui offers the possibility of having such dynamic items without having to burn and reissue items to reflect the new data.

Sui has been working closely with game developers, including those behind a Walking Dead game, Final Stardust from Orange Comet, Project Eluune from Arrivant, and Run Legends from Talofa Games, as well as metaverse game Worlds Beyond and the Overwatch-inspired Bushi, set to launch on Sui over the next month. Ghost Ivy, a Web3 game studio building a first-person shooter (FPS) game called Haven’s Compass for PC and mobile, chose Sui because of its “usability” for gaming. Abyss World is another Web3 game in development from Metagame Industries that will leverage Sui in several ways.
