Bored Ape Yacht Club Celebrates Two Years as a Top NFT Collection

Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) is celebrating its second anniversary, having cemented its position as one of the top NFT collections in the market. BAYC comprises 10,000 unique ape avatars based on Ethereum that comply with the ERC-721 standard, allowing for seamless integration into various marketplaces. The first batch of NFTs sold out within hours, generating millions of dollars in revenue, with the collection’s mint price at 0.08 ETH at its inception. Currently, the price floor for BAYC stands at 50.91 ETH, with a floor cap of 509,100 ETH, ranking it first on the platform. In April alone, BAYC generated 17,000 ETH in sales, equivalent to around $37.4 million.

BAYC’s success is attributed to its unique approach to intellectual property rights and celebrity endorsements. The NFT grants IP rights of the image to its owner, allowing for universal IP. Celebrity endorsements from the likes of Eminem and Snoop Dogg have contributed to the collection’s popularity, with the two rappers even performing as their BAYC personas at the MTV Video Music Awards last year.

BAYC ambassador JBond highlighted the project’s pioneering approach to intellectual property rights, calling BAYC the “face of NFTs” due to features such as universal IP and the growth of brands in the Yuga IP ecosystem.

The success of BAYC and other NFT collections has sparked the interest of investors and traders worldwide. As the NFT market continues to grow, it remains to be seen which collections will emerge as the dominant players in the space. Nevertheless, BAYC has established itself as a trailblazer in the NFT jungle, and its continued success is a testament to the immense potential of this technology.
