The Ethereum network is gearing up for the launch of its upcoming Shanghai upgrade scheduled for March, and recent developments indicate that things are moving in the right direction. In a rehearsal for the upgrade, the network has just concluded an upgrade for one of its testnets.
Terence.eth, an Arbitrum developer, updated the Ethereum community on the successful upgrade on Twitter, noting that the Sepolia testnet had been upgraded to Shapella.
The next step will involve network developers releasing the upgrade on the Ethereum Goerli testnet in March, just before the Shanghai upgrade kicks off. The Sepolia testnet is an important infrastructure used by Ethereum developers to deploy and test Solidity smart contracts, and it also provides a faucet service. This service enables network developers to use Sepolia ETH for gas as they stage DApps on the testnet.
With the recent upgrade, developers on the network can now experience withdrawals similar to those that take place on the main Ethereum network. The Ethereum community is still anticipating a successful hard fork with the upcoming Shanghai upgrade, and expectations are high as March draws closer.
