Introducing ANA GranWhale and Aviation-Themed NFTs

All Nippon Airways (ANA), Japan’s leading airline, has entered the world of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) with the introduction of ANA GranWhale NFT, an aviation-themed NFT marketplace.

The inaugural collection showcases the captivating artwork of renowned aerial photographer Luke Ozawa.

As Japan’s largest airline, ANA generated $12.2 billion in revenue last year. To further enhance customer experiences, the company has decided to venture into the NFT space and launch its own line of NFTs.

On May 30, a digital photograph by aerial photographer Luke Ozawa will be transformed into an NFT. In addition, one NFT will be bundled with a film, serving as the original source for photo development.

The auction for this unique NFT, accompanied by the positive film, will begin at a starting price of 100,000 yen.

Furthermore, ANA has plans to unveil its second collection of NFTs on June 7, featuring NFT representations of ANA’s inaugural Boeing 787 aircraft. These NFTs will take the form of 3D model airplanes and will be available in two distinct types, with a total of 1,574 items up for purchase.

Each NFT in this collection will be priced at 7,870 yen.

The project was initially announced in August 2022, when ANA NEO, a subsidiary of All Nippon Airways, disclosed the official name of their upcoming virtual travel platform as “ANA GranWhale.” This metaverse travel service harnesses cutting-edge technologies such as virtual reality (VR) to recreate destinations and cultures worldwide. The platform comprises three main components: Sky Park, a travel-themed park space; Sky Mall, a shopping space; and Sky Village, an innovative area inspired by futuristic cities.

By entering the NFT market and offering unique digital assets, ANA aims to provide its customers with novel and immersive experiences that blend aviation, art, and technology.
