Mad Lads, an NFT collection based on the Solana blockchain, has reportedly flipped the popular Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) in terms of sales volume. According to data from Cryptoslam.io, Mad Lads was the top seller in the last 24 hours, with sales totaling $2.18 million. Meanwhile, BAYC barely crossed the $1.5 million mark in sales during the same period.
A tweet from a crypto enthusiast had earlier highlighted the flip between Mad Lads and BAYC collections, with the former recording sales volumes of $2.198 million and the latter recording $1.984 million. The difference between the two was initially about $200,000 but has since grown to over $500,000.
Both projects have, however, experienced a reduction in sales volume compared to the previous 24-hour period. The sales volumes for Mad Lads and BAYC dropped by about 38% each. Mad Lads reported over 1,200 transactions, whereas BAYC had only 16. In addition, the number of buyers and sellers for Mad Lads was much higher than that of BAYC.
This development highlights the growing popularity of NFT collections based on the Solana blockchain. Solana has gained traction as a faster and cheaper alternative to Ethereum, which is currently the most popular blockchain for NFTs. As more creators and collectors flock to Solana, it is likely that more NFT collections will emerge on the platform, challenging established collections like BAYC.
