MetaMask, a decentralized application (DApp) provider and cryptocurrency wallet, has launched a new feature allowing users to purchase cryptocurrencies directly from its Portfolio DApp using fiat currency. The new “Buy Crypto” function aims to provide a hassle-free method for purchasing cryptocurrencies with fiat currency. Users can purchase a range of cryptocurrencies using various payment methods such as credit or debit cards, PayPal, bank transfers, and instant Automated Clearing House (ACH). The feature will be available to users in more than 189 countries, offering over 90 tokens across eight different networks, including Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum, BNB Smart Chain, Avalanche Contract Chain, Fantom, Optimis, and Celo.
Users can connect their MetaMask wallets to the Portfolio Dapp to access the feature or click on the “Buy” button in the MetaMask extension wallet. The interface then prompts users to select their region, preferred payment method, and the token and network they wish to purchase. The feature offers a customized quote for each purchase by considering various factors such as the user’s location and local regulations. Once a quote is selected, users are directed to a third-party provider’s website to complete the transaction, and the funds are deposited directly into their MetaMask wallet.
The Buy Crypto feature offers convenience to MetaMask users who can now purchase cryptocurrencies using their preferred payment methods, thereby encouraging greater user engagement with the platform. The feature’s customization aspect ensures compliance with local regulations, promoting transparency and enhancing MetaMask’s reputation as a secure and reliable platform.
