Renowned electronic music artists Steve Aoki and Justin “3LAU” Blau have embarked on an exciting collaboration, forming the duo Punx, inspired by the popular CryptoPunks. Their highly anticipated debut single, titled “Concentrate,” is scheduled for release this upcoming Friday. However, what makes this release truly unique is that it will be shared exclusively with 99 NFT collectors, who will not only own a portion of the music rights but also contribute to the essence of the track.
Describing “Concentrate” as a tech-driven and futuristic composition, Blau, who is the co-founder and CEO of the Web3 music rights platform Royal, believes that the song perfectly encapsulates the spirit represented by CryptoPunks.
Punx has adopted an innovative approach to music release by allocating 50% of all royalties generated from “Concentrate” to the 99 chosen NFT collectors. These collectors will be selected from Blau’s NFT holders, Aoki’s A0k1verse Passport NFT holders, and CryptoPunks NFT holders. This strategy exemplifies Punx’s commitment to giving back to the community and democratizing ownership of the music, setting a positive example for other musicians in the industry.
The unveiling of Punx and their unique fusion of music and NFTs has generated considerable anticipation within the industry. As the first single, “Concentrate,” is poised for its debut, the response from the NFT community is eagerly awaited. This venture not only highlights the creative possibilities that arise from the intersection of music and blockchain technology but also showcases the potential for artists to forge deeper connections with their fan base through innovative means.
