A groundbreaking collaboration between Relics and Steve Aoki has resulted in the development of a virtual music player harnessing the power of NFT technology, allowing music enthusiasts to indulge in their favorite tracks within virtual environments.
Designed for Metaverse Compatibility
The Idol III is a fully digital music player specifically created for use within metaverse platforms. It will feature a unique compilation from Aoki’s Dim Mak record label, mixed and mastered by the artist himself. The jukebox will be compatible with Decentraland and other platforms, exclusively accessible to collectors who own a diverse range of other music NFTs.
A Journey through Time
According to Jordan Kallman, General Manager of Relics, the concept behind the Idol III was inspired by the jukebox culture that flourished in 1950s diners, fostering social interactions.
With a focus on user experience in virtual realms, the music player combines both aesthetics and functionality. The Idol III seamlessly integrates with compatible music NFTs from the user’s wallet, ensuring uninterrupted music streaming and an immersive social experience.
Kallman explains that the Idol III offers artists the opportunity to reach a wider audience by utilizing the native metaverse music player. To ensure proper licensing of all compatible music NFTs for virtual realm usage, Relics partnered with independent electronic music label Monstercat.
Furthermore, Relics is developing a software development kit (SDK) that will enable metaverse creators to effortlessly integrate Idol III compatibility into their virtual worlds.
Another Web3 Music Project by Steve Aoki
Steve Aoki was selected for the creation of Idol III due to his stature as an artist and innovator. With a notable presence as a Web3 developer and NFT collector, Aoki has embarked on ventures such as the A0k1verse NFT membership club and the Punx DJ duo. Aoki has also introduced themed “Sky Pod” environments for his NFT owners on the Oncyber metaverse platform, and his experiences with these locations served as inspiration for the design of this virtual jukebox.
This latest endeavor, Idol III, presents music enthusiasts and creators with a unique opportunity to experience music in a whole new light. Aoki believes it holds immense potential for the future of the metaverse and Web3 music.
