Vatican Library Digitize and Preserve Cultural Heritage with Web3 and NFTs

The Vatican Library is preserving its vast collection of cultural heritage by digitizing its manuscripts, printed books, coins, medals, prints, and drawings through a digital archiving solution called AMLAD, developed by NTT DATA since 2014. With over two million assets, the partnership aims to preserve these valuable pieces of human history while making them accessible worldwide.

NTT DATA and the Vatican Library have collaborated to launch the “Vatican Library Web3 Support Project,” the first initiative of their “Web3 Community Platform.” The project connects the Library with its supporters through blockchain technology and rewards them with NFTs for sharing the initiative on social media or showing their support for the Library.

The initiative incentivizes supporters to own NFTs, granting access to high-resolution images of 15 cultural heritage items owned by the Library, along with explanatory texts created specifically for the project. This new connection between the Vatican Library and its supporters is made possible by NTT DATA’s innovative use of Web3 technology.

Through this partnership, the Vatican Library has revolutionized digital archives and enhanced the experience for supporters who can gain a deeper appreciation for the Library’s cultural treasures. By owning NFTs, supporters can share and show their support for the Vatican Library’s ongoing mission to preserve human history. NTT DATA and the Vatican Library continue to lead the way in the cultural heritage preservation industry by utilizing cutting-edge technology to make these treasures available to the world.
