Crypto Unicorn Worldcoin Launches Waitlist for “World ID”

The ‘World ID’ project, co-founded by Sam Altman, a co-founder of OpenAI, has launched.

This new identification system will allow website users to confirm their humanness and uniqueness without revealing their personal information. Crypto firm Worldcoin has launched a waitlist for the “World ID” software development kit (SDK) as well, which permits websites to verify the identity of their users.

As per the Worldcoin website’s announcement, “World ID” is an internationally recognized digital passport that every user can store locally on their mobile device. This passport will allow users to establish themselves as authentic humans and not robots without providing websites with their phone numbers or any other personally identifying information.

The ID is linked to a cryptographic “proof of personhood” that employs zero-knowledge (ZK) proofs to conceal the user’s personally identifying data. This ensures that users can verify their identities without disclosing the personal information used to make the verifications.
