IBM has unveiled a groundbreaking crypto cold storage solution named the IBM Hyper Protect Offline Signing Orchestrator (OSO).
This innovation aims to elevate the security of digital asset transactions in cold storage, mitigating risks inherent in manual asset handling while preserving their segregation from online environments.
The OSO technology stems from a partnership between IBM and Metaco, a prominent digital asset custody provider and IBM Business Partner. The integration of OSO into Metaco’s robust Harmonize platform will bolster its existing digital asset orchestration system.
The OSO operates across two pivotal segments within Metaco Harmonize, functioning within distinct Hyper Protect Virtual Server settings. One segment, the Harmonize Core, manages signing requests from external sources, while the other, the Harmonize Cold Vault, operates in an isolated environment, significantly enhancing security measures.
Adrien Treccani, the founder and CEO of Metaco, highlighted the company’s dedication to providing top-tier digital asset security solutions to its clientele, which comprises leading global custodians and banks. He also underscored the mounting regulatory requirements in markets like Singapore, Hong Kong, and Japan, which increasingly necessitate robust cold storage solutions.
The fusion of OSO with Metaco Harmonize signifies a significant stride toward transactional security. This cutting-edge system serves as an advanced alternative to physically air-gapped cold storage technologies.
