Mickey Mouse, the beloved Disney character, is making his debut in the world of NFTs (non-fungible tokens) with a $40 NFT collection. The announcement comes from Cryptoys, a digital toy company specializing in NFT-native toys, backed by venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz.
Cryptoys has revealed its partnership with Disney and the upcoming release of a new NFT collection featuring iconic Disney characters: Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and Pluto. This collection, named ‘Mickey and Friends,’ includes 15 limited-edition digital toys, each accompanied by various accessories.
Similar to previous Cryptoys releases, this collection follows a rarity structure with five levels: Common, Rare, Legendary, Grail, and Ultra Grail. Collectors who manage to complete their sets will have the opportunity to receive a special Grail or Ultra Grail Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey, adding an extra layer of excitement to the collection.
CEO Will Weinraub emphasized that this marks the first time Mickey Mouse will be experienced in the NFT format, adding a new dimension to the beloved character’s legacy. Each NFT toy in this collection is priced at $39.99.
Cryptoys’ digitalized toys are issued as NFTs on the Flow blockchain. This isn’t the company’s first venture into the Disney universe; earlier this year, they released a collection of NFT collectibles based on Star Wars characters like Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, and Princess Leia, paired with unique digital gear and settings.
Furthermore, Cryptoys recently announced plans to expand its Star Wars collection by adding the iconic character Yoda. This move signifies the growing intersection between popular culture icons and the NFT space, providing fans with novel ways to engage with their favorite characters.
