Serum City, a city-building game developed by Novel Labs and Faraway, has placed Mutant Apes at the center of its gameplay. These Mutant Apes serve as the game’s primary focus and provide owners with access to the game. In addition to the official Yuga creations, the derivative Genesis Oath and Mutant Hound NFT collections from Novel Labs, as well as Bored Ape holders, will also have access. Serum City is being built on the Ethereum platform, with ApeCoin serving as the main in-game currency.
The game aims to build upon the lore of Mutant Cartel, with founder Lior Messika expanding upon the comic strips and short video clips that he has published over the past 18 months in the game. Serum City promises a more immersive and captivating gaming experience than other NFT-based games, with the team behind the game committed to providing players with abundant lore and narrative while also offering the freedom to create their own stories and game assets.
Messika believes that Serum City can help bridge the gap in the broader Yuga Labs ecosystem for Mutants, which are not currently regarded as being as valuable or prominent as the Bored Ape NFTs. Serum City aims to challenge the simplistic and superficial characteristics of early NFT-based games by offering players a more in-depth and engaging experience.
Players can use ApeCoin as the in-game currency and purchase off-chain currencies like gems. Serum City hopes to draw attention to Mutant Ape Yacht Club NFTs and help them gain more value and prominence within the Yuga Labs ecosystem.
