The sale of Mech Minds’ #7689 NFT has set a new record for the highest amount paid in ETH for an NFT, with a price tag of 125,000 ETH.

Mech Minds, a deflationary NFT series, is recognized for providing interactive experiences to its owners via OpenAI’s GPT model. The series recently made history by selling its #7689 NFT for 125,000 ETH through a combination of flash loans and OpenSea’s zero-fee transaction. This sale broke the record for the most expensive NFT sold in terms of ETH.

Mech Minds confirmed that they made the purchase for publicity and to emulate the $500M sale of CryptoPunk in 2021. The transaction generated significant hype, and it is anticipated that it will attract attention to the attack vector of reaching the top of OpenSea’s trending list and other marketplaces/aggregators. This technique could be used nefariously, especially at low volumes, to wash-trade organic volume that is difficult to detect.

Since the sale was so high, there is no point in concealing anything. Interested individuals can visit the deflationary project’s website at http://mechminds.ai.

On February 20, 2023, OpenSea’s trading volume rose by 15 times to 135,000 ETH, surpassing the trading volume of Blur, which was 50,000 ETH. Mech Minds is believed to have driven the increase in transaction volume. Mech Minds is currently trending on OpenSea and is visible in the top and trending sections.

This isn’t the first time the project has trended on the leading marketplace. On February 14, the project dominated the OpenSea top 10 after selling out in just 25 minutes.
